Merrow Preserve at Dan Hole Pond
About Merrow Preserve at Dan Hole Pond
The Merrow Preserve is a 215-acre conserved forest on the shores of Dan Hole Pond in Ossipee, New Hampshire. Originally protected in 2001 by the Dan Hole Pond Watershed Trust, Moose Mountains Regional Greenways is proud to take responsibility for the conservation of this special place.
Although landlocked, the preserve includes roughly 3,000 feet of rocky frontage on Dan Hole Pond. Its forested landscape features impressive stands of hemlock, mixed hardwoods, and white birch, creating a rich and varied habitat for wildlife.
The Merrow Preserve plays an important role in protecting the water quality and natural character of the Dan Hole Pond watershed. Its mature woodlands, undeveloped shoreline, and intact ecosystems contribute to the ecological health and scenery of the surrounding area, preserving a quiet, wild refuge in the heart of Ossipee.
