Jones Brook/Payne Conservation Easement
About Jones Brook/Payne Conservation Easement
The Jones Brook/Payne Conservation Easement was officially conserved in November 2025. This 23.43 acre parcel, located off White Mountain Highway in Milton, NH, is owned by the Town of Milton and permanently protected through a conservation easement. The property includes 11 acres of high-value freshwater wetland habitat, with the remaining acreage consisting of forested habitat.
The property is in close proximity to more than 4,000 acres of other conserved lands. Both the Branch River and Jones Brook border the parcel, and feed into the extensive wetland system onsite. The Branch River, a major tributary of the Salmon Falls River, supports native brook trout that rely on its cold-water habitat.
The Jones Brook/Payne property is open to the public for passive recreation, including hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching.
