The Bicksler family and MMRG staff at closing.

MMRG is thrilled to share our first conservation success of 2025, the 150-acre Bicksler Conservation Easement in Tuftonboro, NH!

This privately-owned parcel sits adjacent to Melvin Pond, and includes 1,100 feet of water frontage on both sides of the Melvin River, a tributary to Lake Winnipesaukee. The property is mixed with forested wetlands, fields, and swamps, and includes old stone walls and has a breathtaking view of the Ossipee Mountains. NH Fish and Game data shows that the Bicksler Conservation Easement includes some of the most highly-ranked habitat in the region, and the easement is also highly prioritized for conservation. This parcel is near a number of other conserved properties, including MMRG’s Simpson Conservation Easement.

MMRG’s Land Agent, Veronica Bodge, said, “It was a pleasure working with the Bicksler family to conserve another large piece of the growing greenway in Ossipee. We are happy to see such high quality natural resources protected in perpetuity.”

This project was supported by multiple generous donors, including Jacob Evans and Lauren Coffin, and a donation from the Land Bank of Wolfeboro & Tuftonboro. Remaining funds for the project were provided through public and private fundraising efforts.

MMRG extends our deepest gratitude to the Bicksler family for their continued stewardship of their property, and for their partnership and collaboration with MMRG throughout the conservation process.  MMRG greatly values working with local landowners, often of smaller land tracts, to achieve conservation successes benefiting the entire region.
