The Bicksler project encompasses approximately 150 acre conservation easement in the town of Tuftonboro, with close proximity to other conserved lands including the Carr and Simpson Conservation Easement projects and a number of other conserved lands as well. This beautiful privately owned parcel includes 1,100 feet of frontage on both sides of the Melvin River that flows into Lake Winnipesaukee. The interior of the property is mixed with forested uploads, forested wetlands, fields, swamps, old stone walls and has a breathtaking view of the Ossipee Mountains.
According to NH Fish and Game data, there is some the highest ranked habitat in the state of NH as well as the region on this parcel of land and it falls within a prioritized habitat block for conservation. Conserving this parcel of land helps protect the rural character of Tuftonboro, increases the growing greenways in the region and ensures the permit protect of valuable natural resources for future generations!
This project was supported by multiple generous donors, including Jacob Evans and Lauren Coffin, and a donation from the Land Bank of Wolfeboro & Tuftonboro. Remaining funds for the project were provided through public and private fundraising efforts.
